General RV Center will officially be moving our Wixom, Michigan RV dealership to a new location come the Fall of 2014. We have an agreement to purchase about 33 acres of land approximately one mile from our current Wixom store. For those who are familiar with the area, we will be relocating to the land that used to house the Ford Motor Company Wixom Manufacturing Plant.
We were able to have the property re-zoned from industrial to mixed-use classification which means we can participate in retail related activities in the space now. The plans are to construct a two-story building (similar to the rendering below). The first floor will feature a parts store, service counter, service bays, a sales staff, and a display showroom. The second level will house all corporate employees, as well as the IT staff and the Internet Sales division.
“The current location has just become overcrowded with all of the departments mixing together in such a tight space. It’s hard to have to wait for an open bathroom. or have your office moved multiple times to make space for new hires” said Jon Welzel Internet Marketing Mgr. The new building will certainly be exciting for all of the employees to have more room, which in turn will offer General RV customers a much better RV dealer experience. We look forward to serving the masses of RV owners and RV buyers for decades to come in our new location.
We will be keeping all of our customers and the public informed about updates on the project as they become available. We will also be putting together periodic time lapse videos of the building process once it begins. Building is scheduled to begin approximately 60 days from now.
