Whether it’s game day delights, international fare or Southern seafood, General RV’s “Chef RV” series teamed up with culinary experts to prove quality cuisine can be prepared anywhere in any RV. Recently, “Chef RV” host Carlos Parisi cooked up some of the most delicious recipes from top-rated chefs in Michigan and Florida in a variety of RVs. This article will highlight the differences between the Class A motorhomes, Class B camper vans and Class C motorhomes featured in each episode of Chef RV. Carlos will also detail his favorite aspects of cooking and traveling in each.
Class A Motorhomes
Winnebago Vista | Class A Motorhome
The Winnebago Vista Class A motorhome showcased how to maximize any tailgating experience with an RV. Chef Jordan Balduf from Side Biscuit in Ann Arbor, Mich., demonstrated how to make his staple wings, biscuits and dip utilizing the space from both the inside and outside of the RV.
“The Winnebago Vista felt very much the vibe of what we wanted in a perfect tailgate,” said Parisi. “I loved the ability to create such a beautiful space outside while having extreme comfort and luxury inside. Also, the kitchen was better than any of my apartments.”
The galley kitchen inside the Winnebago Vista comes fully-equipped with a three-burner recessed range top with black glass folding cover and large oven. A massive, two-door 10 cubic-foot, 12-volt stainless steel refrigerator/freezer is perfect for cold storage, while dedicated pantry space help keep your cooking essentials nearby. On the outside of the Vista, the Winnebago Tailgate Package provides a refrigerator, LP Quick-Connect for a grill, a stainless-steel sink with single-level faucet and more to create an exterior cooking space that rivals the inside.
The Winnebago Vista is also built for luxury, convenience and entertainment. TVs located both inside and outside of the Vista will keep guests in the game while a powered patio awning with LED lights provides plenty of cover and light. A spacious bathroom will help keep guests comfortable and relaxed, as will the large sofa bed and swiveling captain’s chairs in the living area of the coach. With several convertible sleeping spaces, the Winnebago Vista can comfortably sleep up to eight people.
Class B Motorhomes
Thor Motor Coach Sequence 20K | Class B Camper Van
The Sequence 20K Class B camper van by Thor Motor Coach was the featured vehicle for the entire second season of General RV’s “Chef RV” YouTube Series. Host Carlos Parisi traveled throughout Florida in the Sequence camper van in search of the best seafood in the Sunshine State.
“The camper van we had in Florida felt like it could have been my forever home,” said Parisi. “I’m used to driving a van every day, and it felt no different. The space inside was perfect for every application we wanted, and it grew to be a true character of our show and a member of our crew. I love that van.”
Built on the Ram ProMaster chassis, the Thor Motor Coach Sequence camper van’s 3.6-liter gasoline V6 engine has the power to get you anywhere you want to go. The kitchen features everything you need to create tasty treats, including a two-burner induction cooktop and a 12-volt single-door fridge to keep your ingredients fresh. Plug your appliances into the pop-up outlet for added convenience. Pop some leftovers in the microwave oven, then wash dishes and utensils in the stainless-steel single-bowl sink.
Its off-grid capability is where the Sequence Class B camper van truly shines. Equipped with a high-capacity lithium battery and solar system that can be charged by running the engine, the Sequence can keep you unplugged and on the road longer. Furthermore, the Thor Sequence can even double as a second family vehicle with four belted seats, giving you the luxury of having household amenities wherever you go.
Class C Motorhomes
Thor Motor Coach Quantum | Class C Motorhome
The debut episode of Chef RV featured the Quantum Class C motorhome by Thor Motor Coach. Chef John Yelinek from Ladder 4 Wine Bar in Detroit, Mich., shows us how to make a breakfast classic, a French Omelette, using a simple method that can be recreated in any RV.
“The Thor Quantum was a blast because I had never experienced so much space in an automobile,” said Parisi. “However, turning was a little difficult to get right the first time around.”
The Thor Motor Coach Quantum Class C RV offers a versatile and comfortable living space perfect for weekend getaways and extended vacations. Inside the Quantum Class C, transform the Dream Dinette booth from a cozy dining nook to a guest sleeping area. Prepare meals on the go with a 12-volt refrigerator, a two-burner gas cooktop and a microwave oven. When it’s time to clean up, the stainless-steel sink with a convenient pull-down sprayer makes washing dishes a breeze. If you’re traveling with little ones, they’ll love the cab-over bunk sleeping area in every Quantum layout.
Built on a Ford E-Series chassis, this Class C RV has all the muscle you need to tow your favorite toys with an 8,000-pound trailer hitch. Pack everything you need thanks to the lighted rotocast storage compartments and the MEGA-Storage compartment. When it’s time to relax, kick back under the shade of the powered patio awning with LED lighting.
Thor Motor Coach Four Winds | Class C Motorhome
The Four Winds Class C motorhome by Thor Motor Coach got the seal of approval from a previous winner of Food Network’s Chopped. Chef Hamissi Mamba from Baobab Fare in Detroit, Mich., joined Parisi in the Four Winds Class C RV to prepare some East African cuisine of hearty liver stew, Chapati and African tea.
“The thing I enjoyed most about the Four Winds was its ability to drive around super easily while still feeling spacious and luxurious inside,” said Parisi. “I could definitely see myself taking that RV on the road.”
The Thor Four Winds Class C gas motorhome is the perfect RV for a quick getaway or an extended vacation. The Ford E-Series chassis gives you 325 horsepower, plus an 8,000-pound trailer hitch to bring along a commuter car or trailer with off-road toys.
Inside, you will enjoy residential vinyl flooring that is easy to clean and great for those that travel with pets. Laminate countertops make clean-up a breeze after cooking on the three-burner gas cooktop with oven and glass cover. The large refrigerator is powered by both electric and propane. The jackknife sofa folds out to a bed, and with the cab-over bunk and queen bed in the rear bedroom, the Four Winds can sleep up to eight comfortably.
