Project Rustic

In Spring 2021, General RV partnered with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources for Project Rustic. The purpose of this project was to gather information about <a href="https://www.michigan.gov/dnr/0,4570,7-350-79119_79145_81213_81218---,00.html">rustic state forest campgrounds</a> and update the MI DNR’s <a href="https://www2.dnr.state.mi.us/parksandtrails/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label=" (opens in a new tab)" aria-describedby="audioeye_new_window_message">Recreation Search</a> directory. Project Rustic was led by Paige Lackey, an AmeriCorps member serving with the DNR. Paige traveled by RV to 77 state forest campgrounds over five months with her dog, Willow. During her site visits, she gathered GPS points, data, and photos. Both the MI DNR and General RV also shared updates on social media. General RV wrote numerous blog posts with help from the DNR team during this project.
